Two women. One choice. No way out.

Craig Sullivan is a perfect match.

Not for one woman.

For two.

His wife is dying.
His mistress is dying.
And he can only save one.

What should be an impossible decision quickly becomes something far more disturbing. Subtle pressures. Timed conversations. Coincidences that don’t feel like coincidences at all.

The more Craig tries to take control, the more everything begins to feel… planned.
Because someone is guiding his choice.
And someone already knows what he’s going to do.

A dark psychological thriller about love, control, and the illusion of choice.

Praise for this book

This is a clever book by Tom Kane, a brilliant writer in my opinion. A man has two women in his life, his wife and his mistress. Both need him to keep them alive. Only he has the means to save one of them. He can't decide which one but hasn't got much time. Both women believe he'll choose her, both tell him he needs to be able to live with his choice. Mr Kane's clever use of "Her" rather than names, and secret text messages to and from his brother complicate the situation. I think that how the reader interprets the denouement rather depends on one's views of life. This is a brilliantly written book.

Gripping short story!
This book was hard to put down, as the tension builds from the beginning of the story. It is written so that the reader senses something is off, but what or how is yet to be discovered. The tension builds step by step: a wife becomes increasingly sick; then the mistress becomes ill as well. Simon, Craig’s brother, keeps applying pressure to make Craig come to a life or death decision. The sense of ‘something being wrong’ increases for Craig AND the reader! In fact, it is only at the end that the truth comes out, providing a great surprise ending!
